Hypocrits!

Every Republican member of the House, and all but three in the Senate, voted no on the Economic Recover and Revitalization bill. The party line was, it contains too much spending and not enough tax cuts. Many Republicans said letting the markets run their course, and doing nothing would be better.

Now the Republicans have scurried home to visit with their constituents and explain why the stimulus plan was so bad and they had to vote no.....or are they? At least 22 Republicans are back home touting the stimulus package....and you would almost think it was all their idea, and a good thing too!

But not Republicans.....down in Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal says he will reject nearly $100 million dollars in stimulus money that would be used to put an extra $25 a week into the pockets of unemployed Louisianans. Jindal claims the "strings attached" to the stimulus money would require a change in law that would lead to an increase in taxes for businesses. But as he points out, the possible tax increase would not come for three years, and at that point the state could opt out, and change their law back to avoid passing along the tax. I bet the 25,000 unemployed workers in Louisiana would like a little extra spending money....if only for the next three years!
